Glasgow bar and restaurant Bothwell House closes six months after opening. It opened it’s doors in September 2022  after it took over the former site of Grill on the Corner but it has since announced via its website that it has closed.

Bothwell House offered guests specialist Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine and could seat up to 150 diners. The reason for the closure is not currently known.

It comes as a number of other bars and restaurants across Glasgow city have been closed down in recent months due to a combination of factors.

High business rates, high rent, and expensive labor costs are making operating a bar or restaurant in the city more difficult. Additionally, there has been a decrease in footfall due to the ongoing situation with Ukraine & Russia and tightening financial condiitions for all in relation to inflation.

To survive, bars and restaurants in Glasgow are having to adapt to these challenging market conditions by finding ways to cut costs, diversify their offerings, and improve marketing strategies to attract customers.
